“
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
— Proverbs 4:23
“
I came to realize that you can spend your entire life becoming everything everyone else expects you to be, yet never become who God created you to be.”
ABOUT REV. SHAY
"I was producing for God while neglecting what He was trying to produce in me."
I believe you can love God, faithfully serve others, and still have places in your heart that need healing. I also believe Jesus still heals, restores, and transforms us when we surrender those places to Him.
My Story. His Refinement. My Freedom.
For years, I navigated relationships, served in ministry, cared for my family, and led others from a place of pain. The truth is, my hurt had many faces—some I recognized, and others I didn't even know were there. Eventually, I reached a point where I became tired of the cycles. Tired of settling. Tired of tolerating people, patterns, and situations that were not conducive to becoming the woman God created me to be.
No matter how much you desire to move forward, if your heart remains wounded, you'll continue to find yourself returning to the same places. I know that because I lived it.
I remember the season when God released me to leave the church where I had faithfully served for years. It was there that I was licensed, ordained, and given the opportunity to serve in various leadership capacities. I often say that leaving wasn't the difficult part. Once God released me, I knew what I needed to do. The difficult part was obeying. For nearly two years, I wrestled with what I already knew God was asking me to do. I wrestled with the fear of missing out on what the ministry would become. I questioned whether leaving meant I was being disloyal. I was uncertain about what was next, and I carried the weight of walking away from people and a ministry that had become such a significant part of my life. Although I knew it was time to move on, I couldn't yet see what God was leading me toward. At the time, I didn't have the language to describe what God was doing. Looking back now, I realize I wasn't wrestling with leaving a church—I was wrestling with obedience. God wasn't simply changing where I served; He was refining me.
Today, my passion is helping other women experience the freedom Christ has given.
I know what it feels like to love God and still feel stuck. To faithfully serve while privately struggling. To be surrounded by ministry, yet desperately need God to minister to your own heart. If you're carrying the weight of past wounds, struggling to trust yourself again, feeling spiritually stuck, or sensing that God is calling you into something greater, I want you to know that healing is possible. Not because of positive thinking. Not because of willpower. But because Jesus still restores hearts.
Through Rooted Women Lead Differently™, I help women cultivate emotional health, deepen their relationship with Christ, strengthen their identity, and lead from a place of wholeness rather than woundedness.
My coaching isn't about having all the answers. It's about walking alongside you as you invite Jesus into the places that still hurt, develop practical tools for lasting transformation, and build a life firmly rooted in biblical truth.
I believe healthy leadership begins long before anyone is following you. It begins in the heart.
I know from experience that when your heart begins to heal, your confidence changes. Your relationships change. Your decisions change. Your leadership changes. Most importantly, your life begins to reflect the freedom Christ has always intended for you.
It would be my honor to walk alongside you as you heal, grow, and become the woman God created you to be.

Leaving wasn't the difficult part. The difficult part was obeying."
“
That season became one of the greatest seasons of refinement in my life. At the time, I couldn’t see it, but now I understand that God hadn’t released me because He was finished with me there. He released me because He was preparing me for the next season of my life. He was refining my obedience, exposing areas of my heart I had ignored, confronting beliefs I had accepted, breaking patterns I had learned to live with, and teaching me to trust Him more than what was familiar.
Refinement is God's process of removing what no longer reflects Him so that we can become who He created us to be. It is rarely comfortable and often painful, but its purpose is always transformation.
I had become busy doing the work of ministry, but I wasn't allowing God to do His work in me. I was serving faithfully, yet I wasn't fully free. My season of refinement forced me to slow down, become honest about the hidden wounds I had learned to live with, and surrender every part of my heart to Christ. I carried hidden wounds of disappointment, rejection, fear, broken relationships, insecurity, the weight of expectations, and the busyness of accomplishing much while feeling like I wasn't truly progressing.
As God healed places I had ignored, protected, or simply learned to function around, I discovered a deeper intimacy with Him, a stronger sense of identity, and a healthier way to lead. God had not called me to simply survive my pain. He was using it to transform me. But before transformation came surrender. Before healing came obedience. I had to surrender to God's refining work in me.
Before healing came obedience. Before transformation came surrender."

You don't have to have it all together to begin healing.
You simply have to be willing to surrender.
I'd be honored to walk alongside you as you take that next step.
